Question:  Why didn't the Roundtable Meeting to discuss the MAC Supervisor Derry told his Rep to set up between the Coalition, YMIA, and the Supervisor occur?

Answer:  When the Coalition followed up on the meeting, the Supervisor and his Rep denied Derry ever agreed to a meeting!  YMIA was never contacted by the Rep.

Folks, this is the typical stonewalling the Coalition has been getting now for almost a year!

It's time for a new Supervisor!  Anybody But Derry!

Bringing a Municipal Advisory Council to Yucca Mesa

What elected officials represent unincorporated areas? In recognition of the need by unincorporated communities for increased influence with their county boards of supervisors, municipal advisory councils have been organized in some counties under authorization of a 1971 legislative statute. Such a council is an advisory body of local citizens appointed by the Board of Supervisors with the purpose of representing the community to the board. Although a Municipal Advisory Council is a governing body, it has no fiscal authority or administrative organization.  It does not legislate.  Because it lacks authority to implement its position directly, it seeks to accomplish its goals through County government.  A Municipal Advisory Council is subject to the Brown Act.

What are Special Districts, CSA's, and Improvement Zones?

(Note:  Yucca Mesa already has CSA 70.  To complete the "picture" a Municipal Advisory Council needs to be set up by the Board of Supervisors.  Joshua Tree has CSA 29 and a Municipal Advisory Council which has proven very useful in their defense against the Town of Yucca Valley's attempts to annex Joshua Tree.  Yucca Mesa needs to do the same.)
