After the LAFCO meeting on February 17, 2010, at 8:30 a.m. in San Bernardino, the Coalition will focus on:
Being the Yucca Mesa Watchdogs by monitoring the Town of Yucca Valley Town Council and 2 + 2 Committees, the Town of Yucca Valley Planning Commission, the Hi-Desert Water District Board, the County of San Bernardino Board of Supervisors, the County of San Bernardino Planning Commission,
the Homestead Valley Community Council, and the Yucca Mesa Municipal Advisory Council. Any activity by these organizations as it relates to Yucca Mesa will be reported to the community of Yucca Mesa through our website at: www.StopYuccaMesaAnnexation.org.
As part of the Watchdog responsibility, the Stop Yucca Mesa Annexation Coalition will support the Yucca Mesa Municipal Advisory Council (MAC). As you know, the formation of the Yucca Mesa MAC is important to our community to help keep Yucca Valley from obtaining a Sphere of Influence or annexing the Mesa. At the moment, Yucca Mesa does not have a legal representation to the Board of Supervisors to express Mesa concerns. A MAC will provide that avenue. Joshua Tree has had a MAC for approximately 15 years and it has helped them keep Yucca Valley at bay.
