BEWARE OF TROJAN HORSES

Research on the web revealed some communities were offered "gifts" by the aggressor.  These "gifts" are no more than Trojan Horses, similar to the large hollow wooden figure of a horse, filled with Greek soldiers, left by the Greeks outside Troy during the Trojan War.  The people of Troy gladly pulled the horse inside their city gates with disastrous results.  Many gifts will be offered to the community of Yucca Mesa that in reality are or will be Trojan horses.  Just as the Greeks diverted the people of Troy, the opposition will try to divert us from the destructive impact annexation will have on our community.

Some gifts offered in the past to communities are:

  • A small reservoir for emergency water storage.  This gift became a large reservoir with rock crushing, blasting, habitat destruction and a defacing of the natural slope line. The large emergency water reservoir can increase the likely hood of denser development.  No thanks.

  • The gift of traffic relief, son of 680 freeway, was offered free.  This would have been a major freeway through a neighborhood, bringing noise and air pollution. The community replied, "No thanks."

  • Another community was offered the gift of paying to use a road they used for free. No thanks.

  • Lower electricity rates were offered.  The building of a smokestack trash to an energy plant at the dump site was not acceptable. No thanks.

  • New roads are often promised.  Folks, this won't happen!  Remember the Yucca Valley take-over of part of the Mesa when Yucca Valley became incorporated?  They were offered roads.  To this day, no roads have been built.  The roads in Town aren't even maintained!

  • Gifts to Community Centers, such as doors, windows, concrete, lumber, and paint.

  • Sometimes the opposition will try to convince you that they are your "friend" and urge you to support them so they can help you.  Don't fall for this!  They will vote against you every time!  They are only interested in furthering their own political gains.

  • Another frequently used tactic is an effort to set us against ourselves.  Evidence of this tactic attempt is already unsuccessfully underway.

  • The opposition will try to take us over using fear as a tactic.  Don't fall for it!  The Town Council of Yucca Valley has no power over us.
