WHAT YOU'RE SAYING
ABOUT THE COALITION
"Thank you again for your support of the Mesa as an independent, yet supportive of others, group. I feel Mr. Derry is being influenced unduly by a lesser yet important influence lying near us.
I was disappointed when the county had the gall to use the term HV in the zoning of my home on the Mesa as there is no relationship there!
Flamingo Heights has become a separate part of Landers by sheer name only as it historically was thought to be one by the early settlers. Johnson Valley has never been considered a relative of Yucca Mesa though we have been pleased to support all of these entities and have mutual respect for their differences.
With the things going on in the overall county I am sure that Mr. Derry just doesn’t have the time to put much study in this question but is enticed by the work and word of other movers and shakers who want to shake other peoples trees.
Take care. + Peace." (This resident has been Associated with Yucca Mesa since
October 20, 1933)"
"Re:
Supervisor Derry Blocking MAC - This is disturbing news coming from an elected
official."
"And
Elizabeth Karman, with the exception of accepting HVCC donations for funds to
provide buses to transport our citizens to critical functions, has almost single-handedly managed to create and manage the groundswell which threatened the
very existence of Yucca Mesa by two giant and well-funded monsters!"

"The Brown Act is obviously more comprehensive and should be the way to go…"
"... the Brown Act protects the Mesa residents from back room deals. It would seem to me, the County would welcome the
Municipal Advisory Council over using a (non-Brown Act club) to represent the residents of Yucca Mesa in order to protect it (the County) from liability. It only takes one accusation of impropriety to point the finger at the County. The first question asked by any lawyer would be, "why did you allow a (non-Brown Act club) to represent the Mesa?".
And why should I be asked to pay membership to seek representation. Seems a little hoaky to me!"
"I've been trying since November 16, 2009, to obtain a copy
of the audio tape the HVCC Secretary recorded. I was part of the
proceedings. Neither HVCC's President or Secretary will give me a
copy. If HVCC were a Brown Act body, I would have it by now."
"HVCC sounds like a "wannabe" government to
me!"
"I've never heard of HVCC before."
"We used to have a Municipal Advisory Council years ago, but it failed due to lack
of interest. Perhaps now that we've grown, we should try it again."
"I think the time might be right for a YUCCA MESA Municipal Advisory Council
and that it in
no way detracts from the implied power of the HVCC. The HVCC could co-exist quite well if they so chose to. I have appreciated the
camaraderie between our various community association. Recently I went out to Johnson Valley on a business trip and realized again how far away from the Mesa they are. I hardly think we have that much in common for us to be lock stepped with them for survival.
It has been for over fifty years that I felt that Landers, Flamingo Heights and Johnson Valley were distinct
and unique areas deserving mutual support for their special needs but not as part of a
Municipal Advisory Council due to this.
If future effort is to be improved for the use of the HVCC I feel that regional
representatives should by elected or at least approved by a vote from the active
property-owning members of the YMIA."
"Yes, I agree [with Municipal Advisory Council]. HVCC has originally encompassed all if not most rural communities. We all need protection from the cities and larger towns.
But the Mesa is closer to JT and should have a Municipal Advisory Council to further ensure their protection, too!"
