'Watching the Local Scene for You and Barking when Necessary" Yucca Mesa Improvement Association Graded Roads Issue DID YOU KNOW? YMIA is a social club with an average of 15-20 people attending monthly pot luck socials? YMIA is exploring expanding Special Districts Roads (grading) for the entire Yucca Mesa. Why are they interfering with our roads? ONLY Registered Voters would vote on YMIA's proposed road project? This means that people who do not own property on the Mesa such as renters would be voting to place a tax on property owners' tax bill without the property owner knowing about it. Out-of-State property owners are most likely not registered voters in Yucca Mesa. Renters and others can vote to place a tax on their property without their knowledge (until they receive their tax bill). 78% of Yucca Mesa Residents say unpaved roads are best maintained by residents. Why make ALL residents pay for County-graded roads? Smaller Districts can be set up for those who want their roads graded. The County reduces the number of grading times per year and you still pay the same amount or pay more. An example is the following e-mail from Flamingo Heights to their residents regarding their County-serviced roads: From: Tory Preston <torypreston2@gmail.com> Date: Thu, 7 Jul 2011 09:22:08 -0700 To: Tory Preston<torypreston2@gmail.com> Subject: Road Grading Meeting - Please try to attend If you did not get a notice in the mail then possibly you live in the same area as I do and we are not affected by this meeting. I live on the east side of Hwy 247 on Tahoe Avenue and this development was deeded to the county and has a different deal in regards to keeping our dirt roads clear. Everyone else in Flamingo Heights will be affected by this decision by the county of San Bernardino to reduce the number of times our roads are graded each year from 4 to 2 times. One good rain and we are in trouble. Please try to attend this meeting on Friday the 15th at 1PM at the association building on Perris St. behind Hero's Catering. This meeting is called for by the Special Districts Department of San Bernardino County. If you have any questions please contact me . I know of some people who live on the west side of 247 and they still have not received their letter but they should have as this does pertain to everyone on the west side and parts of the east side of 247. My number is 760-364-3373. Please try to attend if you are at all concerned...you pay for this on your taxes but they say that costs have risen yet your fees have not increased since 1986.
